The great Lupita de la Paz and myself at Casa de la Cultura at Del Rio Texas. They provided great food! - Chalupas
We were blessed with great Music! - Xemilla! (from San Antonio) hear their music
and great press and excellent attendance.
Enmascarados! was attended by Box y Lucha Piedras Negras!
Check out the posse that Box y Lucha Piedras Negras brought. They brought an extra electricity that peaked between the band's sets - the crew from Piedras really put on a great show once the masks came on, they were jumping and smacking each other around while the crowd looked on shouting and jeering.
Here's a couple of videos, of raw footage totally improvised!
and here's another one inside:
There's a good chance Enmascarados! will exhibit in Piedras Negras in March for a Live Autograph session with Mil Mascaras (Next to Santo and Blue Demon, one of the pillars of Lucha Libre's worldwide noteriety) before heading up to San Antonio. Here's a link to their website.
Many from the area came out of the wood-works to see the exhibit... Here's a couple of groups who didn't know each other before the exhibit
comparing the authenticity of their respective masks. This older gentleman procured a copy of a signed photo of his encounter with the original luchador "Santo". I mean "El Santo" is like the president of Lucha Libre.I'm really enjoying what this exhibit is creating for the population of communities who have a chance to see it. It has a life of it's own. What I especially enjoy is that it is the show contains particularly good work with a message for a variety of art appreciation/ interpretation. Folks who love art, or Lucha Libre, or both - (and even who have never heard of Lucha Libre, it's true believe it! wow)- are pleasantly surprised by what the Exhibit/show is about. I think San Antonio is going to love it.
